Danville- Lawrence W. Davis, 67, of Danville passed away at 6:30 AM on Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Provena Covenant Medical Center in Urbana. He was born on February 18, 1943 in Danville to Lawrence M. and Rosetta Kane Davis. He married Kathy McMasters on February 14, 1986 in Danville. She survives. Also surviving are his mother Rosetta; 5 children Robert (Shari) Davis of Catlin, John Davis of Fairmount, Joshua (Gina) Davis of Danville, Charles (Andrea) Shutes of West Lafayette, IN, and Dr. Thomas (Rita) Shutes of Lafayette, IN; 10 grandchildren Kaitlyn Davis, Anna, Brady, Cierra, Courtney, Kaleb, and Blaise Shutes, Clayton and Morgan Harding, and Olivia Shutes; sister Judy (Ronnie) Graham of Catlin; brother EB (Martha) Davis of Tipton, IN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, sisters Ethel Smith and Rosemary Bowling, and a granddaughter Audrey Shutes. Lawrence worked at Heatcraft where he retired in 2000 and was a member of Local Union #1271. He was an avid racecar fan and especially loved NASCAR where he would cheer for a different driver every week. He enjoyed motorcycles and street rods and was a one time member of the Vintage Rods Car Club in Danville. Lawrence especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren play. A service to celebrate the life of Lawrence Davis will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Pastor Dan Fienen will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Wednesday, January 5 also at Sunset in Danville.
