Lawrence R. Mariage

Danville – Lawrence R. Mariage, 93, of Danville, went to be with the Lord at 12:48 AM on February 3, 2026, at his home. Lawrence was born December 27, 1932, in Hillery, IL, the son of Reuben and Zelia (Vallet) Mariage. He married Margaret Puzey on October 19, 1963, in Danville.

He is survived by two daughters, Michelle (Christa Barkdoll) Mariage and Diann (Steve Egan) Mariage, both of Chicago; one son, Matthew; 4 grandchildren (Cole, Cody, Rachel, Cate) and 2 great grandchildren (Roman and Pierce).

He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret, 2 sisters, Rosie and Leonna.

He enjoyed bowling, golf (2 holes in one!), and working in the garden. He was drafted into the Navy and served on the USS John W. Thomason out of High School. Out of the Navy he worked briefly at the electric company and then found his home at Chuckles where he was a maintenance supervisor until he retired. Later in life he built the house he lived in. He enjoyed cheering on the Illini basketball and did several trips to Florida and one cruise. He was a hard worker and a great Dad. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Danville.

A celebration of Lawrence’s life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834. Pastor Paul Rebert will officiate. A visitation will be held from 10-11 AM on Saturday prior to the service, also at Sunset in Danville. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
