Danville- Lawrence Johnson, 92, of Danville passed away at 6:59 PM on Monday, April 11, 2011 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. He was born on November 4, 1918 in Danville to William H. and Ethel Taylor Johnson. He married Minnie E. McClain. Later he married Juanita A. Tennant. She preceded him in death. Also surviving are 3 sons, Larry Johnson of Tilton, Rick (Betty) Johnson of Tilton, and David (Miranda) Johnson of Indianapolis, IN; 10 grandchildren, Nick Barrett, Bob (Stephanie) Barrett, Chad (Sarah) Barrett, Amee (Alex) Hall, William Johnson, Laura Johnson, Kyle Johnson, Brian Johnson, Christine Anderson, and Cindy Shepard; and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a step-son, Joe Wright, daughter Louella Brandon, 6 brothers, Arlis, Ernie, Lawrence, Eugene, Lowell, and Eddie, and 2 sisters, Lorraine and Alline. Lawrence served in the Army during WWII. He retired from Lauhoff Grain where he worked in maintenance, was a 32 degree Mason at the Catlin Lodge #285 and a member of the Scottish Rite. Lawrences family would like to give a special thanks to Teresa Richie for her care. A service to celebrate the life of Lawrence Johnson will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Pastor Raymond Gordon will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park where military rites will be performed. Visitation will be from 1-2 PM with Masonic Rites at 1:45 PM prior to the service at Sunset. Memorials may be made to CRIS Senior Services.
