Lawrence Warren Hudson, at 103 years young and surrounded by his family, went to his Heavenly reward on Sunday, January 20, 2019.
He was born on July 23, 1915 to Roy Christopher and Ruth Ellen Hill Hudson in rural Champaign, County, near Mayview, Illinois. When he was 3, his family moved to Vermilion County, near Henning, Illinois. He grew up there and farmed on the home place and for other landowners in the area until his retirement in 1978. After he retired, Lawrence supervised his sons farming from the four-wheeler he bought in 2003 and the Jeep he had always wanted that he bought in 2016.
On February 17, 1938, he married Ruth Louise Martin at the Central Christian Church in Danville. She passed away on July 14, 1997.
He leaves behind his son, Lawrence Dean (Phyllis) Hudson; grandsons, Lawrence William (Russana), Lowell Dean (Mary) and Leon Dale (Amy) Hudson; granddaughter, Deanna Lynne (Michael) Meyer; great-grandchildren, Leslie (Craig) Spencer, Lauren (Colton) Bullard, Brandon (Jill) Hudson, Megan (Drew) Longmeyer, Noel Hudson, Christian Hudson, Lexi Hudson, Jonathan Hudson, Madelyn Hudson; and 7 great, great, grandchildren, Lacy, Kathryn, and Maggie Jo Spencer, Allie and Hudson Bullard, and Hayden and Grant Lawrence Hudson; two nephews and many relatives in the Champaign/Urbana area.
Lawrence is preceded by his parents, wife, Ruth; sisters, Opal Mae, Marjorie Marie and Dorothy Helen Hudson and his brother, Fred Roy Hudson.
Lawrence was a faithful Christian who drove to church almost every Sunday. He was an avid Cubs fan and was glad that he lived long enough to see them win the World Series in 2016. He also was an Illini fan. His Chief Illiniwek blanket was never far from his lap. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
