Lawrence Edward Baum, 71, of Urbana, IL, passed away from COVID-related complications on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.
Larry was born on May 24, 1949, in the Bronx, NY, the son of Jack and Edith (Meyerson) Baum who predeceased him. He married his wife, Laurie Scott Baum, on October 23, 1999 and she will miss him dearly.
Larry is survived by his wife Laurie; his two daughters Johanna Baum & Rebecca Baum Gersten from a previous marriage; his son-in-law Jordan Gersten; his sister Ellen Fuccella; his mother-in-law Louise Scott; his sister-in law Terry Scott Adcock; brother-in law David Adcock; his five grandchildren Cameron, Reese and Noah Baum, Emerson and Everett Gersten; his nieces and nephews Lindsay and Alex Fuccella, Zack and Alex Adcock, and grandniece Tessa Adcock.
Larry grew up in East Williston, NY and attended high school at The Wheatley School in Old Westbury, NY. He received a BS from SUNY Buffalo.
He loved the Sciences and his work in Quality Assurance in the food industry. He worked and lived in many places and retired with Laurie in Urbana, IL in 2013.
Larrys true creative passion was music. He played the guitar, performed in coffee houses, and wrote many songs over his lifetime. Larry also enjoyed watching sports, in particular, golf, basketball, and baseball.
