Lawrence E. Larry Rollins, 77, of Georgetown, passed away at 12:19 p.m. on Thursday, November 27, 2008 at his residence. He was born April 4, 1931 in Champaign, Illinois, the son of Albert C. and Gertrude E. Erven Rollins. He married Lela Jenkins on November 28, 1974 in Georgetown. She preceded him in death on July 2nd of this year. Survivors include 1 son, Michael (Sharon) Rollins of Defiance, Ohio; 1 stepdaughter, Pam (Ted) Kopacz of Danville; 7 grandchildren, Darla Kraemer, Buddy King, Tracey (Scott) Hart, Terri (Troy) Brown, Shawn Jenkins, Shannon Jenkins, and Tammy Jenkins; 10 great grandchildren, Montana, Johnnie Kay, Austin, Jesse, Jordan, Jayden, Hunter, Trevor, Tanner, and Treyton; and 2 great-great grandchildren, Cody and Jordan. Larry was preceded in death by one step daughter, Cleola Johnnie Burke, 1 step son, Wilbur Bud Jenkins, and 2 grandsons; Bernard Loran Burke and John Dale J.D. King. Larry was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Georgetown American Legion Dornblaser Post #203 and the Georgetown Lions Club. Along with his wife Lela, they owned and operated a foster home for war veterans for nearly 40 years. He enjoyed camping, motorcycles, CB radios, fishing, and loved his dogs. Larry will always be remembered for his willingness to help others. A celebration of the life of Larry Rollins will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel of Westville, 414 South State St. Westville. Officiating will be Reverend James Blue. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Monday, Dec 1st at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Memorial contributions may be made in Larrys name to the American Cancer Society.
