LAVONNE TOBY LEFT THIS LIFE TO BE WITH THE LORD ON JULY 24, 2004. SHE WAS BORN DECEMBER 19, 1921 TO SAMUEL AND MARIE (BENNETT) DOSSEY IN COLLISON, ILLINOIS. SHE MARRIED LLOYD TOBY ON JUNE 10, 1951 IN DANVILLE, ILLINOIS. SHE IS SURVIVED BY HER HUSBAND, 2 DAUGHTERS; CARLA (BRAD) BAILEY OF DANVILLE AND RHONDA LEE OF ST. JOSEPH, ALONG WITH 2 VERY SPECIAL GRANDAUGHTERS, LACEY KAY AND KENDRA MICHELLE LEE, ALSO OF ST. JOSEPH. ALSO SURVIVING ONE SISTER AND THREE BROTHERS; WANDA DOSSEY NAFZIGER OF CATLIN, MARVIN (EDIE) DOSSEY, NORYLN (DOLORES) DOSSEY, AND GERALD DOSSEY ALL OF DANVILLE. SHE WORKED AT CHUCKLES CANDY COMPANY FOR 13 YEARS. SHE LATER WORKED AT DANVILLE AND BISMARCK SCHOOL DISTRICTS IN THE LUNCH ROOM. AFTER RETIRING SHE WASN'T FULFILLED BY STAYING HOME SO SHE BEGAN WORKING DOING CUSTODIAL WORK FOR NORTHLAND CHRISTIAN CHURCH, THE CHURCH IN WHICH SHE WAS A MEMBER. SHE CONTINUED WORKING UNTIL SHE BECAME ILL IN 2003. LAVONNE WASN'T HAPPY UNLESS SHE WAS HELPING OTHERS. SHE VOLUNTEERED FOR MEALS ON WHEELS, THE SHARE PROGRAM, PLEASANT MEADOWS NURSING HOME, AND HANGING ROCK CAMP TO NAME A FEW. SHE LOVED TO WORK OUTDOORS. WHETHER IT WAS GARDENING, WEEDING, MUSHROOM HUNTING, PLANTING, MOWING, OR RAKING LEAVES THAT IS WHEN SHE WAS MOST HAPPY. SHE ALSO LOVED TO COOK AND WAS VERY GOOD AT IT. SHE LOVED ALL OF GOD'S CREATURES AND TOOK TIME TO ADMIRE, LOVE AND CARE FOR THEM ALL. HER THOUGHTFULNESS, SINCERITY, CARING NATURE, AND LOVE WILL BE SADLY MISSED BY ALL WHO KNEW HER. IN DEATH AS IN LIFE LAVONNE CARED GREATLY FOR OTHERS BEFORE HERSELF. SHE HAS REQUESTED THAT HER BODY BE DONATED TO A MEDICAL UNIVERSITY FOR STUDIES. A MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD 10:00 A.M., AUGUST 7, 2004 AT NORTHLAND CHRISTIAN CHURCH, THE CORNER OF LIBERTY LANE AND TOWNWAY. REV. DOUG HARGROVE WILL OFFICIATE. DONATIONS MAY BE MADE TO THE SCLERODERMA FOUNDATION, 12 KENT WAY, SUITE 101, BYFIELD, MA 01922 OR NORTHLAND CHRISTIAN CHURCH.
