Laverne M Ayers

LaVerne May Demmin Ayers, 99, of Chrisman and formerly of Danville, passed away on December 19, 2021 at Pleasant Meadows Senior Living in Chrisman. She was born in Danville on May 17, 1922 to parents Katherine and Ernest Demmin. They preceded her in death.

LaVerne married William Carmichael in 1940 and had her only child, Sharon Lee Carmichael, in 1941. Sharon passed away two days after her mother on December 21, 2021. LaVerne worked at Chuckles Candy Factory for 30 years. She retired in 1977 and moved out to California where her sisters lived. There in California, she met and married Ronald J. Ayers in 1986. Soon after his passing in 2018, LaVerne moved back to Danville to live with her daughter until she had to go to the nursing home in Chrisman in March of 2021. She lived there at Pleasant Meadows Senior Living until her passing.

Alongside her parents, daughter, and husband, LaVerne is also preceded in death by her siblings Violet, Winifred, Lillian, Gordon, and William.

LaVerne is survived by her granddaughter Stephanie (Mike) Idlett and her great-grandson Troy Idlett. LaVerne loved her granddaughter dearly, but she truly cherished her great-grandson. She enjoyed reading and shopping.

A graveside service will be held for LaVerne and Sharon on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 10:00 am at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville.
