Eugene, Ind. - Laurence Ottinger, 86, of Eugene, passed away at 6:45 a.m. EDT Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the Rockville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Rockville, Indiana. Arrangements are pending at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana.

He was born on March 18, 1931 in Rileysburg, Indiana the son of the late Jess and Mildred B. (Tobey) Ottinger.

Laurence first married Phyllis Carter. She preceded him in death. He later married Goldie Bernice (Tryon) Conrad on January 26, 2016 in Fountain County, Indiana. She preceded him in death on March 10, 2016.

Survivors include three step sons, John (Linda) Conrad of Cayuga, Indiana; Jerry Dale (Ronda) Conrad of West Lebanon, Indiana and Billy (Joan) Steele of Cayuga, Indiana; six step grandchildren, Kye Sutliff of Eugene, Indiana; John B. (Hope) Conrad of Kingman, Indiana; Jenny L. Pippin of Perrysville, Indiana; Lisa (Paul) Hamilton of Cayuga, Indiana; Carrie (Bobby) Morgan and Jennifer Shumaker both of West Lebanon, Indiana; four step great grandchildren, Zeb Pippin of Covington, Indiana; Erin Collins of Terre haute, Indiana; Randi Conrad of Kingman, Indiana and Morgan Conrad of Kingman, Indiana, and one step great great grandson, Tate Wann, and one step great great granddaughter, Addlyn Steele; two nieces, Hank (Don) Ramsey of Cayuga, Indiana and Denise Ottinger of Lafayette, Indiana.

Laurence was preceded in death by his step daughter, Janet Simonton; one sister and three brothers.

Laurence retired from Hyster's in Danville, Illinois. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and the United States Army. Laurence was a graduate of Kingman High School. He was a member of the Cayuga American Legion Post #263. Laurence enjoyed woodworking; fishing; camping; riding his motorcycle and spending time on his computer.

There will be no services. Per Laurence's request cremation was accorded. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Hicks Cemetery in Perrysville, Indiana. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana is assisting the family with arrangements.
