Laurence 'Larry' W. Hayes

Laurence W. Hayes, 70, of Phoenix, AZ, formerly of Danville, IL, went to be with the Lord at 1:40 am on September 6, 2022 at his home.

Larry was born on May 31, 1952 in Galesburg, IL the son of Earl W. and Susan G. (Murdoch) Hayes. He married Becky (Swing) Johnson on April 27, 1985 in Galesburg, IL and she survives.

Survivors include his wife, Becky Hayes, his son Joshua Hayes; daughter Cori (Drew) Faulk; stepson Christopher Johnson; stepdaughter Carolyn (Tony) Setser; five grandchildren - Kaitlyn, Kayla, and Krista Faulk; Tryce and Trinlee Setser. His brother Cris Hayes as well as one niece and one nephew also survive.

Both his parents precede him in death.

Larry graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelors Degree in Economics. He worked in Consumer Lending for 21 years and auto sales at Wright Motor Company North in Danville, IL for 16 years. After retirement, Larry enjoyed his time working at Meijer's in the produce department for 6 years before moving to Phoenix, AZ.

Larry was an active member at Danville First Church of the Nazarene. He always had a smile on his face, enjoyed telling stories, and making people laugh. He was a true sport fanatic, a die-hard Cubs fan, and an all-around athlete who loved bowling, playing baseball, basketball, softball and golfing, especially with his church friends. He was a loving husband, devoted father, and enjoyed being a grandfather. He loved spending time with family as well as planning and enjoying family vacations.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, September 30, 2022 at the Danville First Church of the Nazarene, 2212 N Vermilion Street Danville, Illinois, 61832. Pastor Dave Anderson will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022 from 4:30-6:00 PM at the church prior to services.

Memorial may be made in Larrys memory to the Danville First Church of the Nazarene.
