Laurence Larry Albert Luehrsen, 70, of Danville, passed away at 1: 40 a.m. Monday, October 26, 2009 at VA Illiana Healthcare Systems in Danville. Larry was born on July 9, 1939 in Cissna Park, Illinois, the son of Albert E. and Edna E. (Strum) Luehrsen. He married Bev Siebring on January 14, 1962 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Watseka. She survives. He is also survived by two sons- Duane (Patti) Luehrsen of Onarga, Illinois and Glenn (Londa) Luehrsen of Naperville, Illinois; one daughter- Rhonda (Tom) Wagner of Danville; two sisters- Dorothy (Wendell) Pfingsten of Watseka and Norma (Charles) Siebring of Wilmington, Illinois; five grandchildren- Lindsey Luehrsen, Peyton Luehrsen, Brant Luehrsen, Mason Wagner and Riley Wagner; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother- Glen Luehrsen. Larry graduated from Watseka High School in 1957. Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served from 1957 to 1961. He worked as a pressman for 40 years, working at UARCO, Watseka Times Republic, Paxton Printing and Blax Printing in Danville. After retiring, Larry worked in the tool department at Sears for the last 5 years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, VFW Post #728 and American legion Post #210. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, watching James Bond films and spending time with his grandchildren. A Celebration of the Life of Laurence Larry Albert Luehrsen was held at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Kent Tibben officiating. Burial was held in Danville National Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Larrys name to the Danville VA Palliative Care Unit.
