Champaign - Lauren Kay Bluett Lashbrook, aged 64, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2018 Carle Hospital, in Urbana IL. after a 4 year struggle with cancer. Lauren was born April 9, 1953 in Chicago IL. the daughter of Robert E. Bluett and Mary Anne Foss. Lauren enjoyed art and loved to draw, she liked cooking from scratch for her family, canning and gardening. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. During her life she enjoyed Sunday family gatherings and attending her children and grandchildren extra-curricular events. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Champaign, IL. She married Chuck Stoll with whom she had her first son, Micah, and they later divorced. On October 10, 1981 she married Mark Lashbrook in Chicago, IL. Their marriage gave Lauren her first daughter, Jamielynn, and second son, Drew. Lauren and her husband, Mark, moved throughout their marriage that began in Champaign, IL where they met. On such a winters day, they were dream'n and decided to move to Los Angles, California. They then moved to Southern Illinois to own their own mini farm, like she had always dreamed of, complete with dogs and cats in abundance, chickens, a pig, a goat, a duck, three horses, and 2 ponies. She had an enormous garden that she loved so much, including her herb garden that made the whole farm forever smelling like lemon balm. She raised 3 kids as a stay at home mom. She was an amazing Girl Scout leader to her daughter and her friends. She was a stand in mother to many. When her last baby went off to school, she decided to start college, first at Kaskaskia College where she was an active volunteer for AmeriCorps. From Centralia, they moved to Monticello, IL, where she finished college and received a bachelors degree from Eastern Illinois University at the age of 57. Just two weeks before she was diagnosed with cancer they had moved back to Champaign where the whole family had started. Lauren is survived by her husband of 36 years Mark Lashbrook; sons Micah Stoll of Galloway, OH. and Drew(Bryanna) Lashbrook of Lubbock, TX. ; daughter JamieLynn(Aaron) Walker of Monticello, IL.; 5 grandchildren Jackson Walker, Justice Stoll, Theodora Stoll, Josephine Walker, and Abram Banks Walker; Her niece and nephew Samantha Eiler and Ryan Schack; and a number of relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her sister Lynn Bluett Knox; her Father Robert Bluett; her mother Mary Anne Foss Bluett Schack; her Stepfather Frank C. Schack. A celebration of Lauren's life will be held at 2:30pm on Saturday March 24, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home, 710 N Neil St. Champaign, IL 61820. Memorial visitation will be held prior from 12pm-2:30pm at the funeral home. Burial of cremated remains will take place on a future date at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles, CA.
