Laura Marie Sager, 44, of Westville, IL ran into the arms of Jesus on October 1, 2026, at 4:42 a.m. at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.
Laura was born September 23, 1982, in Urbana, IL, to Steven and Mickie Benson. She married W.T. Sager of Westville, IL, on June 16, 2001, at Ridgeview Baptist Church in Danville, IL, he survives. She is survived by three beautiful children, Chloe Marie (Mark) Sager, Wyatt William Sager, and Sophie Marie (Zeke) Sager; her parents, Steven and Mickie Benson; father and mother-in-law William and Brenda Sager; siblings, Steven William (Andrea) Benson II and Sarah Elizabeth (David) Benson; brother-in-law Nick (Darcy) Sager; nieces and nephews: Sydney (Trevor) Stuckey, Brayden Benson, Leyla Benson and Myles Benson, Theresa Halloran and Graysen Halloran, Quinn Sager and Norah Sager; Grandma Jenny Neal; and very dear friends Tim & Sarah Franklin and their children, TJ, Abby, Caleb, Andy, Luke, and Julia.
Laura attended First Baptist Christian School and graduated from Forest Hills Academy in 2000. She began working at Old National Bank in Tilton, then moved to Landmark Credit Union in Danville.
Laura was an active member of Grape Creek Baptist Church, where she faithfully taught and mentored children of all ages and served as the treasurer. She loved decorating and planning for all types of events at the church, especially vacation Bible school. She was a beautiful ambassador for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She loved and encouraged others to know Him right until she met Him.
Laura was a warrior who battled cancer with grace and joy for four years. She was an encourager until her final breath.
Laura is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Floyd and Donna Benson, her maternal grandmother Marjorie Moody, maternal grandfather Robert Moody, and grandfather-in-law Tom Neal.
She had multiple cousins who were dear to her including Jacob (Rachelle) Bowers, Andria (Bob) Pawelczak, Julie (Garland) Carter, Lisa (Tad) Hendricks, and a beloved uncle Eric Benson and Aunt Nedra (Willard) Huff.
Many thanks to Amanda Chrappa and the team of nurses and staff who cared for our precious Laura during her illness.
A visitation for Laura will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Grape Creek Baptist Church, 13658 Grape Creek Road, Danville, IL 61834. A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 10:00 am at Grape Creek Baptist, officiated by Pastor David Leary. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Danville, Illinois.
The family has requested everyone to wear their favorite pair of jeans to the services.
