Laura Jean Cox

Laura Jean (Lete) Cox, 58, of Oakwood, passed away at 12:45 pm on Monday, March 27, 2023, at her home in Oakwood. She was born December 30, 1964, in Danville, Illinois, the daughter of Robert and Alice Jean (Pettice) Lete. She married Toby Cox on October 22, 1994, in Danville, IL. He survives. Also surviving are her son, Tristan (Elizabeth) Cox of Whitestown, Indiana; her siblings, Jeff (Thelma) Lete of Alvin and Sarah (Michael) Baird of Covington, IN, as well as many nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends.

Laura was currently employed by the State of Illinois, Department of Motor Vehicles in Tilton, Illinois. Laura loved everything about the summer and sunshine. Any given summer day she could be found hanging out by her pool, in the boat with her husband, or anywhere else she could soak up the sun. She lived for getaways with a nice spot on the beach and some tropical music playing. Laura was also an avid reader. Her love for biographies of musicians only added to her immense fact bank about 1980s music. She was always someone you would want on your trivia team. She was a loving mother and friend; always the most supportive person and a cheerleader for everyone she loved. Laura was loved by everyone that knew her and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

As per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. An open house to celebrate the life of Laura Jean Cox will be held from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at Crooked Creek Whitetails Estate, 13486 N 400 E Road, Fairmount, Illinois 61841. A private burial will be held at Bethel Cemetery in Rossville, IL at a later date.
