Laura J. Battle

Laura J. Shuler Battle, 72, of Champaign, left this world on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at her home. She was born at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul on August 1, 1953, the daughter of Clarence and Evelyn Shuler. Laura married the love of her life, Roger D. Batlle, on August 2, 1974, and they spent 48 wonderful years together before his passing in February 2023.

She is survived by her son, Taylor (Bridget) Battle, grandsons, Gabriel and Ezekiel Battle, sister, Lindy (Brian) McDonald, niece, Katie (Jeremy) Davis, great niece, Sophia, great nephew, Jack, longtime friends, Candy Sullivan and Paul Miebach, along with her uncle and cousins from Ohio.

Laura was a member of Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church in Champaign. She loved watching Cardinals baseball and Ohio State football. Laura enjoyed taking cruises, finding joy in travel and the beauty of new places. She also loved her pets very much and cared for them deeply.

Laura will be remembered for her gentle kindness and the special way she touched the lives of those around her.
