Larry Wargo

Larry Wargo, 67, of Westville, passed away at 1:56am, Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. He was born on March 12, 1950, in Danville, the son of Mike and Esta C. {McCortney} Wargo. Larry worked at General Motors Tilton Foundry as a crane operator and retired after 25 years of service. He was a proud Veteran of the US Marine Corps and served during Vietnam. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the N.R.A. and the Illiana Bow Hunters Club where he served two terms as president. Larry attended St. Mary's Grade School and graduated from Georgetown High School in 1969. He loved taking his cousins bow hunting and fishing. Larry also helped to care for his brother, Mike, who is wheelchair bound, and helped his neighbors. He was a kind person with a giving heart. Larry will be missed by: his brothers, Mike Wargo of Westville, Jerry Wargo of Farmerville, LA, & James Wargo of Catlin; his sister, Darlene Wargo of Westville; his niece, Lacy Wargo of Indianapolis; his nephew, Blake (Tina) Wargo of San Jose, CA; several cousins; and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Randy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, September 23, 2017, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 231 N State St, Westville, with Father Timothy Saupp officiating. Visitation will be 4:00pm to 8:00pm, Friday, September 22, 2017, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S. State St., Westville, with a Rosary Service at 3:30pm. He will be laid to rest in Oakridge Cemetery, Catlin, with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post #51 of Westville.
