Larry Ray

Larry Gene Ray went home to be with his Lord on November 28, 2022 at 6:05 AM at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville, IL.

Among those awaiting his arrival were his parents, Roy L (Gabe) and Vera (Edwards) Ray.

Larry was born in Lakeview Hospital in Danville, IL on September 18, 1944.

He graduated from Georgetown High School in 1963 and from Lipscomb University class of 71. He spent a few years working as a youth minister in the Metro St. Louis area before moving to education and teaching for over 30 years finishing up at Georgetowns Mary Miller Junior High School in 2003.

Larry will be missed by friends, Eddie Randolph, Martha Foster, Margaret (Bob) Bouchard and his east Park Church of Christ family. He enjoyed spending time with old friends and former students. Larry was a very generous person, helping many of his friends and students. Larry was a lifelong member of East Park Church of Christ and an avid St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan. He was a fan of southern gospel Quartet singing. Larry was also a big fan of drum and Bugle Corps competition. His favorite was the Cavaliers. He was a very good pool player and enjoyed a good round of golf.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on January 14, 2023 at the East Park Church of Christ, 1224 East Voorhees, Danville, Illinois 61832. Eddie Randolph will officiate. Burial will be in the family plot, Jewett Cemetery in Jewett, IL at a later date. Visitation will be held from 10:-11:00 AM prior to services at the church.
