Larry Piper

Larry Ease Wayne Piper, 63, of Danville, passed away at 5:10 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 2005 at Casa Grande Regional Medical Center in Arizona. Larry was born on April 21, 1941 in Fairmount, Illinois, the son of Wayne T. and Sylvia (Rosnett) Piper. He married Shirley Engleman on October 10, 1969 in Danville. She survives. Survivors include 1 son: Steve (Denise) Becker of Dayton, Ohio; 2 daughters: Cindy (Terry) Schertzer of Scottsdale, Arizona and Crystal (Doug) Jacobs of Champaign, Illinois; 1 brother: Russ (Pat) Piper of Bullhead City, Arizona; 1 step-brother: Mark (Pan) Metcalf of California; 2 step-sisters: Marge (Dennis) Limauge of Covington, Indiana and Donna (Bob) Adams of Texas; 6 grandchildren: Cassandra Becker, Eric Becker, Megan Schertzer, Morgan Schertzer, Jonathan Schertzer, and Hunter Jacobs. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister- Sharon Daniel. Larry graduated from Danville High School. After graduation he attended Danville Area Community College. In 1970 he started working for the High School. He worked as an equipment manager and trainer for all of the High School sports until retiring in 2000. After retiring Larry started to do oil paintings. He loved to paint and was a member of the Art League. Larry also enjoyed playing golf. His greatest love was being around all children. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Danville.
