Larry Lynn Darr

Larry Lynn Darr, 80, of Danville passed away at St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana on December 23, 2016. Larry was born the son of Seth Willis and Vera Leone (Price) Darr on March 18, 1936 at home in Jamaica, Illinois. Larry married the love of his life Barbara Hiser on July 25, 1957 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. She survives. Also surviving, Kathy (Steve) Fitzgerald, Diana Smith, Michael Darr and Shane Darr, ten grandchildren; Kelli, Erin, Shannan, Ryan, Lindsay, Logan, Chloee, Brandon, Nathan and Derek, seven great-grandchildren, one sister; Lynda (Bill) Knight and many beloved nieces, nephews and special friends. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Patrick, one son-in-law Bob, two brothers, and two sisters. Larry went to work for Rhodes Burford Furniture in 1955 where he was employed until 2003. Larry was a member of Vermilion Heights Christian Church. During his younger years, Larry was an avid hunter. Larry enjoyed watching all animals, especially birds, taking care of his garden, always having pride in his home, yard and family. Larry enjoyed playing euchre, going on family vacations but most of all spending time with his family. A celebration of Larry's life will be held at Vermilion Heights Christian Church on Friday, December 30, 2016 at 6:00 pm. A visitation will be held at the church from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm. Per Larry's wishes his cremation will be handled by Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion, Danville, Il. Entombment at Sunset Memorial Park at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Larry's name.
