Larry Joe Richards Sr., 69, of Danville, passed away at 1:42 a.m. Saturday, July 2nd, 2011 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center. Larry was born on July 1st, 1942, in Hoopeston, the son of Levi and Susanna (Neher) Richards. He married Pam Gillis on January 11th, 1969 in Danville. She preceded him in death on April 26th, 2004. He then married Cinda Donaldson on September 18th, 2009 in Danville. She survives. He is also survived by a daughter- Robbin Hires of Urbana; two sons- Randy Richards of Hoopeston and Rob Richards of Toledo, Ohio; two step-sons- Larry Ryan Jr. of Montana and Michael (Robin) Ryan of Alabama; step-daughter- Sheri Schmink of Waukegan, Illinois; three sisters- Shirley (Paul) Grant of Texas, Theresa Pierce of Hoopeston and Sandra Burris of Hoopeston; seven grandchildren- Matthew, Michael, Casey, Cody, Dustin, Bradley and Nathaniel; and two great-grandchildren- William and Samantha. He was preceded in death by his parents, son-Larry Richards Jr., son-in-law- Will Hires, brother- Donny Richards and a sister- Carolyn Richards. Larry graduated from Hoopeston High School in 1960. After high school he served in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. He worked for several years at Berkley-Davis, until retiring in 1997. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed working in the yard, sitting in his swing, fishing, camping, bowling, riding his Gold Wing and spending time with his grandchildren. Larry was a loving husband, father and grandfather. A Celebration of the life of Larry Joe Richards Sr. will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 5th, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home, with Pastor James Blue officiating.
