Larry Jarling

Larry Jarling, 70, of Danville passed away Thursday morning at Carle Hospital in Urbana. He was born September 8, 1943 in Danville, IL the son of Wilmer and Dorotha (Hall) Jarling. He married Sandy (Downing) Jarling and raised their family in Danville, IL. Larry and Sandy had just proudly celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family on July 7. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, nephews Larry (Punker) Smart and Todd Smart. Surviving are his wife, Sandy; sons, Greg (Anne) Jarling of Oakwood; Darin Jarling of Catlin, IL; grandchildren, Conor, Gavin, Kailee and Clayton Jarling; sister Nancy (Clark) Smart; brother, Doug (Christie) Jarling; and several nieces and nephews. Larry worked for many years at ATI in Danville and was co-owner of Jarlings Custard Cup in Danville. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran and Graduate of Danville High School and Danville Junior College. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Larry was an avid Green Bay Packer and Atlanta Braves Fan. Larry loved to cook for family and friends, and was well known for his homemade banana cream pies with mile high meringue, bread pudding and caramels. Of his many blessings in life; his children, grandchildren and his Christian Faith were the most cherished. He was lovingly adored by his family and was known to NEVER miss his children or grandchildrens ballgames. His wit, clever comebacks, and positive attitude will be dearly missed. We know that he will continue to be watching the games from his seat in Heaven. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society and Trinity Lutheran Church.
