Larry J. Wise

Larry Wise, 82, a lifelong resident of Olivet passed away at home on December 2, 2023. He was born in Danville on March 18, 1941 to William and Leora Wise. They preceded him in death.

Larry grew up in Olivet and attended Ridge Farm High School, graduating with the Class of 1959. In 1961 he married the love of his life, Wilma, in Ridge Farm. They spent many wonderful summer days on their boat in the various local lakes. Larry enjoyed waterskiing and was quite good at it. He even taught himself how to barefoot ski, which he continued to do even into his 50s. He held many machinist jobs throughout the years which helped hone his various skills. He was an excellent carpenter, landscaper, woodworker, and many more. He even helped his dad drill wells for quite a few years. Being the jack-of-all-trades he was, he owned various rental properties around the area that he took great pride in. He always enjoyed catching up with the neighbors as he was out on his tractor. He will be missed dearly by his family and all those who had the pleasure of meeting him.

Larry is survived by his daughter Debra (Lloyd) Stark of Danville, grandchildren Felisha Stark, Chelsee (Travis) Wilson, Eric Stark, and Drew Stark, as well as many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Wilma, his son Michael Wise, brother Ronnie Wise, sister-in-law Roberta Wise, nephew Ronnie J. Wise, and grandchildren Thomas Fisher and Lucas Stark.

A visitation will be held from 1:00- 2:00pm on Friday, December 8, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Homes Houghton-Leasure Chapel, located at 200 E. West Road in Georgetown. A funeral service celebrating his life will follow at 2:00pm at the funeral home. Reverend James Blue will be officiating the service.
