Larry E. Cox, 85, of Danville passed away on August 31, 2024 at OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center in Urbana. He was born April 22, 1939 in Danville to the late William and Virginia Cox. He attended Oakwood High School. Larry grew up in a large family and was the last of his 11 siblings

Larry was a truck driver for several different companies prior to beginning his career at Danville Metal Stamping. He stayed with them for over 20 years before eventually retiring. He enjoyed trapshooting and riding his motorcycle in his spare time. He was also a member of the Bethel Baptist Church.

Larry married Beverly Rutherford on October 11, 1996 and together the two spent a wonderful 37 years before his passing. She survives. Also surviving are his son Kelly Cox and stepdaughter Debbie (Ty Allison) Griffith; his grandchildren Hannah & Rebecca Cox and Lacey (Adam) Niewedde; his great-grandson Eli and Mason; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and siblings, Larry is preceded in death by his daughter Chris Cox.

A memorial service celebrating Larry’s life will take place on Friday, September 13, 2024 at 11:00 am at Bethel Baptist Church, located at 2533 Perrysville, Danville, IL 61834. Pastor Mark Carpenter will be officiating. He will be placed to rest at Sandusky Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in his honor to the Bethel Baptist Church.
