Larry Dean Richards Larry Dean Richards, 74, of Danville, passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at 9:44 am with his family by his side. Larry was born February 28, 1939, to Glen and Gladys (Ponder) Richards in Covington, IN. He later married Dorothy Hall on August 5, 1967 in Catlin. She preceded him in death on May 6, 2008. Surviving Larry are: six children, Jody (Cinda) Richards, John (Debbie) Richards, Julie Richards, Jill (Gary) Jones, Larry (Stephanie) Richards and Laurie (Darrin) Allen; eight grandchildren, Nicole (Jarvis) Brown, James Jones, Audrey Allen, Tyler Lappin, Paige Richards, John Richards, Samantha Richards, and Bailee Richards; three great-grandchildren, Giana, Cruz and Xander Brown; one step-daughter Monica Hall and her two children Kasey one brother Jerry (Nancy) Richards; two sisters, Shirley (Bill) Russell and Janis Romack; one sister-in-law Barb Taylor; he left behind several nieces and nephews, and he shared a special bond with his nephew Glen Richards. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, a step-father George Pank Keister, three brothers William Glen Richards, Ronnie Lee Richards, and Bobby Lee Richards. Larry was a millwright at General Motors for 30 years. He retired in 1993. He was a very easy-going, intelligent and giving man. His hobbies included bowling, wood-working, riding his Harley, listening to blues music and he really enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Larry was a real Mr. Fix-it. Larry was a member of UAW Local 579 and a member of the Bowling Hall of Fame. A celebration of Larrys life will be at 10:00am on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center a Life Celebration Home in Danville, IL. Reverend Keith Klossner will be officiating. A visitation will be held from 4-8pm on Monday, February 3, 2014 at the funeral home.
