Larry Dean Phelps

Larry Dean Phelps, 64, passed away on Friday, April 27, 2018 at his home in Champaign, IL. He was born on November 3, 1953 in Bloomington, IL to Mack and Pearl (Hazlewood) Phelps, and was raised by William and Janet Phelps. Larry married Joyce Ann Richardson on May 7, 1988 in Champaign, IL. Larry is survived by his wife; children Kevin (Shani Phipps) Williams, Stephanie (Dan) Sawka, Emily (Kenny) Watts, Eric (Amanda Lovingvoss) Williams; grandchildren Katrina, Stephon, Andi, Kenny, Bailey, Miriam, Elizabeth, Mackenzie, Makayla, Brittany; great-grandchildren Dylan and Scarlett; siblings Dianna Wilson, Kathy (Bob) Gumbel, and Rick (Lee Ann) Phelps. He was preceded in death by his parents; 15 siblings; and William and Janet Phelps. Larry loved his family and grandchildren. He worked for 40 years at Kraft Foods, he was a member of Sundowners Car Club, and he enjoyed going to garage sales and flea markets. A celebration of Larry's life will be held at 10am on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home, 710 N. Neil St., Champaign, IL 61820. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Major Tom McDowell will officiate. Visitation will be held prior from 4pm-6pm on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in Larry's name to The Salvation Army.
