Larry Dean Parke, 79, of Georgetown, passed away at 4:19am, Thursday, October 15, 2020, at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center, Danville. On June 22, 1941, he was born the son of William and Eunice {Richardson} Parke in Georgetown, IL. He was united in marriage to Mary Sue Bennett on August 23, 1963. She will miss him dearly.
Larry is also survived by: his son, Bradley Alan Parke; his daughter, Nancy (Jay) Boose; his brother, Ronnie Parke; his grandchildren, Shelby (Chris) Crowl, Jayson Boose, Chad Runner, Erika (Aaron) Hastings, & Autumn Parke; his great grandchildren, Greyson & Addison Runner, & Eleanor Hastings; his sister-in-law, Shirley Parke; and many extended family & friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Larry Scott Parke; and his brother, Robert Parke.
Larry worked for R&S Printing for 23 years and then retired from Quaker Oats after 19 years. He attended the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Georgetown. He was a handyman, and his grandchildren were convinced that he could fix anything. He also enjoyed mushroom hunting and arrowhead hunting, as well as fishing with Dixie Neubert and his best friend, Jerry Becker. He spent the winter months in Florida with his son, Scott. Larry loved to travel with Mary Sue and visited many places together including Hawaii, Alaska, Cancun, and New England. Larrys house and yard were always neat and tidy with nothing out of place and together with family & friends built the metal building that he was proud of. He will be remembered for many things and for his love for his family.
A celebration of Larrys life will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, October 31, 2020, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Georgetown, Illinois 200 E. West St. Georgetown, Illinois 61846 with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to his service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery. During these unprecedented times, it is kindly requested that face masks be worn, and social distancing is practiced by all those in attendance of the visitation and service.
