Larry D. Mollett, 79, of Danville, IL, drew his last breath on earth and his first breath in Heaven at 3:58pm, Monday, December 30, 2019, at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center, Danville. He was born on August 17, 1940, in Danville the son of Eugene and Elsie {Blakeney} Mollett, both deceased. He was married to Leah Pearl Kirchner on March 11, 1997, until her passing on April 26, 2018.
Larry is survived by: his son, Jeff Mollett of Salina, Kansas; his daughter, Kim Lape of Catlin; his stepchildren, Darrell (Linda) Rankins Jr. of Alabama and Penny (John) Higgins of Danville. his sister, Nancy BurtBrown of Catlin; his grandchildren, Ryan, Tyler, Emili, Lindsay, Jason, Dawn, Joshua, Deanna, Joshua, Jon, David, Ellen, Seth, Gavin, Ethan, & Elizabeth; his eight great grandchildren; and his very special nieces & nephews. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Kristi Cobble; his brothers, Eugene Jr. and William Duane; and his sisters, Marge, Carole, & Phyllis.
Larry was a carpenter for many years and later became the business agent for the Local Carpenters Union Local 269 which led him to work for the International Carpenters Union. He recently received his 50-year member plaque to the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. He never met a stranger and loved to talk to people and get to know them. He was Christian and loved God. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan but was also a huge fan of all sports. Larrys presence on earth was larger than life and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of Larrys life will be held at 11:30am, Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Georgetown, Illinois 200 E. West St. Georgetown, Illinois 61846 with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be held 9:30am to 11:30am on Saturday prior to his service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given to American Diabetes Association.
