Larry Burleson

Champaign - Larry Burleson, 63, of Champaign passed away at 1:42 PM on Friday, March 11, 2016 at his home. He was born on June 29, 1952 in Atoka, OK to Otis P. Burleson and Mary Lou (Mead) Chronister. He married Lynn Quinlan on February 27, 1974 in Ukiah, CA. She preceded him in death on November 8, 2012. He is survived by two children, Jerad Burleson of Champaign and Shanna (Tom) Darrell of Concord, NC; sister, Othel Longinotti of Atoka, OK; three grandchildren, Madison Darrell and Russell Darrell of Concord, NC and Emily Miller of Monticello, IL; brother-in-law, Jim (Judy) Quinlan; sister-in-law, Sue (Harry) Kruger; and several, nieces, nephews, and other family members he cared for. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Clara "Sweet" Teasley and Mary Fern McNeil, and a brother, Kenny Burleson. Larry had worked as a mechanic at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul until it's closing. He had also sold cars for Continental Limited, and drove tandem trucks for area concrete companies. Larry loved to ride motorcycles, especially Harleys, but also liked classic cars. Larry loved his family most of all and enjoyed being goofy with his grandkids, but also went above and beyond in caring for his wife Lynn throughout their entire marriage. A service to celebrate the life of Larry Burleson will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Sunset's Champaign-Urbana Chapel at 710 N. Neil St. in Champaign. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre St. Malachy's in Rantoul. Visitation will be held from 11-1 PM prior to the service on Wednesday, also at Sunset. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the National Kidney Foundation in Champaign.
