Danville- Larry Bryant, "I'm the luckiest man alive!" This was my husband's and our dad's favorite saying, unfortunately he lost his very strong and always positive life to cancer Thursday, May 12, 2016. Larry was born in Champaign, IL to Mark Joseph and Helen Opal (Yeazel) Bryant November 29, 1939. Larry and Diana K. Hamm married at the Church of Christ in Georgetown, IL on July 16, 1966. She survives. Also surviving are sons, Mark (Jill) Bryant of Danville and Chad (Jenna) Bryant of Mahomet, IL. He was an amazing grandpa to all five of his grandchildren, Lohgan, Sydne, Karsyn, Rance and Karolyne. Larry's sister, Linda (Harold) Ware of Sidell, IL; sister-in-law, Connie (Dave) VanVekoven, North Carolina; brother-in-law, Ray Hamm of Ridge Farm, IL; sister-in-law's, Debbie (Randy) Smith of Louisville, KY and Cindy (Mark) Jackson of Georgetown, IL; several loved and very special nieces and nephews; his faithful dogs, Clemmi, Hope, Josie, Amigo, Bugzi and Chewie also survive. Larry graduated from Jamaica High School in 1957. He was a member of the Illinois National Guard. Larry worked for Davies Packing Company before starting his automotive career with Barkman Chevrolet in 1964. After several years in the automobile sales industry he became co-owner of Bryant Chevrolet Buick in Attica, Indiana. He was a member of the Chevrolet Legion of Leaders for over 20 years. Larry loved most sports and most of all, his grandchildren's activities. Larry had a true passion for his cars. After he was married and his sons were born, priorities changed for him. He became the best husband, dad, baseball coach, motocross crew chief and just an absolutely amazing man for his family. Anyone who had the opportunity to know or talk to Larry knew what an interesting person he was, always caring for other people, willing to lend a helping hand or share a story. Larry had a passion for helping all animals find homes, or to keep them out of harm's way! My husband, I so loved our almost 50 years of marriage. I'll miss you so but have so much that will be with me forever! Our dad and mentor, You taught us that love, hard and smart work, determination and caring for the other person will get us far! We are so blessed to have had a dad that cared, believed and loved us boys no matter what! In Lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Vermilion County Animal Shelter Foundation, PO Box 965, Danville, IL 61834. A celebration of Larry's life will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 7:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville with Pastor Raymie Gordon officiating.
