Larry E. Allison, 81, of Georgetown, Illinois, passed away on Friday July 17, 2026, at Carle Foundation hospital in Urbana, Illinois. Larry was born February 11, 1945, in Bismark, Illinois, the son of the late Dennis and Fleda (Hayworth) Allison.
Larry married Susan Louise Peelman on February 6, 1965, they later divorced. Born from that marriage was Todd and Ted Allison. On July 10, 1998, Larry married Darlene (Reynolds) Berry, and they Celebrated 28 years this year.
Larry is survived by his loving wife Darlene and his son Todd (Tina) Allison, grandchildren; Miranda Hamrick (Brandon), and Kaci (Chris) Runion, great grandchildren; Knox Runion, Rhett Hamrick, and Lainey Hamrick. Darlene’s children; Darla Berry, Deb (Davey) Sellers, and Rusty (Megan) Berry, grandchildren; Ryan (Hunter) Berry, Samantha Goodwin, Zach (Melanie) Berry, Rylee (Rich) Goodwin, Ross (Hennessey) Berry, and Lacee (Brenden) Marks, great grandchildren; Presley Berry, Piper Berry, Amelia Luhrsen, Justin Berry, Noah Berry and Weston Marks, Bonus grandchildren; Jessica Hanner, Carl Rossiter Jr. (Renee), Mark (Priscilla) Pesek, Stephanie Mc Daniel, and Stacy Curtis, Bonus great grandchildren; David (Tierra) Hanner, Dakota (Jayden) Martin, Ainsley Jo (Jonathan) Blumberg, Cynthia (Lane) Tessman, Nolan Sapp, Tucker Pesek, Savanah Hanner, Jasper Pesek, Kinsley White, and Brooklyn Cundiff, nieces and nephews Peggy (Richard) Haskin, Scotty Carter, Renee, Dawn, Sam and families, extended family Linda (Roger) Allhands, Mary Miller, Kenny (Cheryl) Reynolds, Sandy Reynolds, Pam Bonebrake, Liz and Richard Sollars Jr (Jennie) and their families.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, son Ted Allison, sister Darlena Hawkins, brother Gary (Cindy) Allison, bonus grandson, Deakon Hanner, Milton Reynolds, and Dave Bonebrake.
Larry was a forklift operator at Hyster and retired after 38 years. Larry, along with his friend the former Dave Bonebrake were known as the Gold Dust Twins. He also worked at T&C Construction as an owner, operator truck driver. He proudly owned a 1946 Chevy Panel Truck. In 1996 along with his brother Gary Allison, his son Todd Allison, Richard Sollars, and Dale Edwards founded the Junk Yard Dogs. Larry and Darlene moved to Tennessee; he worked at ConAgra. He and his wife rebuilt a log cabin in Tellico Plains, TN. Larry also worked alongside his son Todd at EZ Distribution.
Larry enjoyed gardening, going to Street Rod Nationals, Frog Follies, American Graffiti Night, and local car shows. Working on and repairing cars trucks it didn’t matter, he would always help. The last few years he was the lever man while splitting wood. Larry never met a stranger and could be often found talking about any old cars or trucks around.
A graveside service for Larry will take place on August 1, 2026, at 11am at Gundy Cemetery in Bismark, Illinois. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center’s Houghton-Leasure Chapel 200 E West Street Georgetown, Illinois, helped the family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Larry's name to his wife, Darlene Allison, to help with financial obligations.
