Covington, In; Lanny George Arthur, 67, of Covington Indiana, went to heaven at 5:15 p.m. CDT on Friday, October 5, 2012 with family by his side at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville, Illinois. Lanny was born January 29th, 1945 in Mexico Missouri, the son of William and Eiline Arthur. On September 3, 1983, Lanny married Diane Marie Jenkins in Indianapolis, Indiana. She survives. Also surviving is one son, Ray of St Louis, Missouri; 4 daughters, Mary of St Louis, Missouri, LaDonna of Kokomo, Indiana, Kelly of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Maggie of Indianapolis, Indiana; 16 grandchildren, Ryan, Jordann (Daniel), Kyle, Jodi, George, Ashley, Lilly, Oliver, Silvie, Mallory, Brian, Brendon, Jeremy, Anthony, Marlie, and Lanny Joseph; 5 great-grandchildren, Lilly, Bella, Brody, Rave, and Avery; 1 niece, Cherish; 2 nephews Bill and Mike; adopted granddaughter, Bananas and her dad Johnny. Also surviving is Lanny's father, William Arthur, his sister, Cindy(Ed) Meyer of Marshall Missouri; and a cousin he loved as a brother, David Richardson of Crawfordsville, Indiana. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Gary. Lanny was a proud veteran of the US Navy, serving on the Air Craft Carrier Saratoga during the Vietnam Conflict. He was formerly a police officer in St. Louis Missouri and Jacksonville Florida. He later pursued a career in retail loss prevention. Lanny was loving, kind, tender hearted, a romantic and had a sense of humor that could make you laugh until you cried. He loved and lived for his family. Lanny was a past master of Olive Branch Lodge #38 and the Shriners. Lanny's family would like to thank the doctors and wonderful nursing staff of the ICU at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center for their compassionate care of Lanny and his family. A celebration of the life of Lanny Arthur will be held at 11:00 am EDT on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Sunset's Covington Chapel, 420 3rd St. in Covington, Indiana. Officiating services will be Father Greg Nelson. Visitation: 5-8 pm EDT on Wednesday, October 10th at the funeral home, with Masonic rites one hour prior to visitation. Burial will be held at 11:00 am EDT on Friday, October 12 at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made Shriners Children's Hospital.
