Lance A. Atwood

WESTVILLE - Lance A. Atwood, 78, of Westville, passed this life at 10:34am, Sunday, December 16th, 2007, at Provena USMC in Danville, IL. Lance was born December 13th, 1929, the son of Roland M. and Mary J. (Pridemore) Atwood in Hawbuck, IL. His parents preceded him. He was also preceded by his brother, Owen M. Atwood. Lance was united in marriage with his true love and soul mate, Annabelle McDaniel, on September 2nd, 1950, in Georgetown, IL, by the Rev. Minnie Sanders. Survivors include: his wife of 57 years, Annabelle, and their children: Bruce (Kathy) Atwood of Georgetown, Lana (Kenny) Hooks of Westville, Bryan (Cindy) Atwood of Wapella, IL, Brett (Theresa) Atwood of Decatur, Bart (Faye) Atwood of Westville, and Lance Jr (Sheri) Atwood of Westville; his 28 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; one brother, Roland M. (Judy) Atwood II of Westville; three sisters, Beverly (John) Hacquet of Westville, Gail (the late Joe) Doggett of Danville, & Linda (the late Dick) Crowe of Westville. Lance enjoyed camping, deer hunting, mushroom hunting, & fishing. He retired from Rogers Cartridge in 1987 after 33 years and was a member of the Teamster Local 26. Lance was devoted to his family and he will be missed very much. He was very proud of his family and they are very proud of him. He is loved and respected immensely. Dad, until we meet you at the beautiful shore A celebration of Lances life will be held at 5:00pm, Tuesday, December 18th, 2007, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S State St, Westville, IL, 61883. Lynette DeAtley will officiate the service. Visitation will be from 1:00pm to 5:00pm Tuesday at the funeral home before the service. Memorial Donations may be given in Lances name to the American Heart Association, 208 S LaSalle, Suite 900, Chicago, IL 60604-1197.
