Champaign Lacy Dallas Alford, 79, passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at his home in Champaign, IL. He was born on August 16, 1941 to Dallas and Vivian Alford in Lumberton, NC.
Lacy attended South Lumberton Elementary and graduated from J. Hayswood High School. After graduation he joined the United States Air Force in 1961. In 1963 he married Claydean Williams and from this union three children were born; Lacy, Debra, and Beverly. He later married Nancy Jaeger in 1982 and from this union one child was born; Colin E. Alford. Lacy retired from Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, IL in 1983. He worked with Service Masters cleaning service until 1987. He became employed with the University of Illinois and worked there until his retirement in 2012. Lacy enjoyed listening to the blues, reading, and watching Jeopardy and country westerns.
Lacy is survived by his wife Nancy; four children Lacy, Debra, Beverly, and Colin; siblings Barbara Guise, Stacy Alford, Norman Alford; eighteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a host of relatives and friends; and his life partner Barbara Cotton.
A private service will be held in his honor at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Champaign, Illinois 710 N Neil St. Champaign, Illinois 61820.
