L. Marie Price

DANVILLE - Lelia Marie Price, 91, of Danville, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 20, 2015, at Hawthorne Inn, surrounded by her loving family. Born January 7, 1924 in Trenton, Michigan, where she lived for 40 years. She was the daughter of Andrew and Cordelia Anderson. Marie married Richard L. Price on August 27, 1943 in Trenton, Michigan. He preceded her in death on August 11, 1996. Marie was a kind and selfless person. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Marie loved organizing and cooking for family gatherings. Spending time with family and friends is what she loved more than anything. Family always came first. The children said that, "Mom was the heart of the family, and Dad was the soul." When Richard was transferred to Illinois with the C & E I Railroad in 1963, the family moved from Trenton, Michigan, to Catlin, where they lived for 14 years. Marie worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for various businesses in Danville, including Fel Pro and McCalmans Construction before moving to St. Louis. In 1983, she and Richard retired and moved back to Michigan, making Houghton Lake their permanent home, but kept a place in Danville to be close to family. Marie was a very active member of First Presbyterian Church in Trenton for many years. After moving to Illinois, she attended both Second Church of Christ in Catlin and the United Methodist Church in Rossville. Marie is survived by two sons, Dennis Price and Gary Price; one daughter, Dianne Kurth; five grandchildren, Heather (James) Yerem, Andrew (Lacey) Price, Amanda (Joshua) Campbell, Dane (Kathryn) Kurth and Mackenzie Kurth; and eleven great grandchildren, Ryan McCord, Megan McCord, Allison Yerem, Kennedy Price, Owen Price, Beckett Price, Brooklyn Campbell, Austin Campbell, Adelyn Kurth, Kenley Kurth and Camden Kurth. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; and her sister, Ileen. Visitation for Marie will be held from 4 pm until 7 pm Wednesday, June 24th at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville. Private graveside services will be at a later date in Marble Park Cemetery in Milan, Michigan. Memorials may be made in Marie's name to the donor's choice.
