Kurt Walter Franzinger Sr., 97, of Danville, passed away at 1:35 PM on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. He was born on May 19, 1915 in Elizabeth, NJ, the son of Adolf and Emilie (Wendal) Franzinger. On May 18, 1940 he married the love of his life, Lois Kathryn Blake in Ashland, Wisconsin. Kurt is survived by his daughters, Kim F. (Tom) Esker and Kerry (Bill Son) Franzinger-Son, his grandchildren, Kurt W. Franzinger III, Billy, Nataliya, Kurt E. Son and one great granddaughter, Addisyn Son. He was preceded in death by his wife, his son Captain Kurt W. Franzinger Jr., his parents and his brother Frank. Kurt graduated magna cum laude in 1936 from Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa honor society and Delta Upsilon Fraternity. He was employed by E.I. du Pont de Nemours where he worked at various DuPont explosive plants including the Newport Army Ammunitions Plant where he was manager. He ended his career at age 67 from DuPont in Divamito, Mexico. Kurt enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading and traveling, and most of all spending time with his family. He was a very kind, loving, fair and gentle man who adored his family. He was the best father his daughters could have asked for. At Kurt's request he will be cremated and there will be no services. Private entombment will be at a later date. Memorials can be made in Kurt's name to Presence United Samaritans Medical Center ICU or the donor's choice.
