Champaign- Kim David Fairbanks, 66, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. He was born on October 18, 1951, in Sterling, IL to Charles and Geraldine (Wahl) Fairbanks. Kim is survived by his children Matthew (Dr. Colleen) Fairbanks, Melissa (Shannon) Valentine, and Joshua (Amy) Fairbanks; grandchildren Samantha, Kaitlyn, Jack, Eleanor, and Wesley; siblings Jeffrey (Jane) Fairbanks, Terry (Diane) Fairbanks, and Craig (Natalee) Fairbanks. He was preceded in death by his parents. Kim was a fifth generation painter who established his company in several states. He was a loving father who cherished raising his children. Kim grew up in Champaign, IL attending Holy Cross Catholic and Centennial High School. During his sophomore year, his family moved to Florida where he graduated from Cypress Lake High School in Fort Myers and attended at the University of Florida in Gainesville. Kim's biggest passions were cinema, especially Sci-Fi and westerns, art, and spending time with his family. Kim will always be remembered as being nurturing, hard working, and inimitable. A memorial celebration of Kim's life will be held at 1pm on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at Sunset Funeral Home, 710 N Neil St. Champaign, IL.
