Danville- Kent G. Johnson left this earthly life on Tuesday, November 27th, 2012 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Kent was born in Evansville, IN to George and Myrtle Johnson on March 21, 1937. He married his loving and devoted wife Marilyn A. Edwards in Naples, FL on March 20, 1981. She survives, along with his step-daughter Lori L. Edwards. He is also survived by one brother David (Ruth) Johnson; a brother-in-law James (Joyce) Edwards; three sisters-in-law, Carolyn (Larry) Goodwin, Judy (Don) Dice, and Beverly (Steve) Coppenbarger; many nieces and nephews; as well as three very special friends, Doris Halls, Bill Cohee, and Brian Huber. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one sister. Kent worked for Kroger Foods and Eagle Grocery Store, retiring in 1997. He was a sergeant in the US Army over the tank division. Kent was an avid Bears, Cubs, and University of Indiana fan. He enjoyed gardening, especially working with his roses, until he no longer could because of health. A service to celebrate the life of Kent Johnson will be held at 12 noon on Friday, November 30, 2012 at Central Park Church of Christ in Tilton. Pastor Wade Martin will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 11 AM- 12 PM prior to the service on Friday, also at the church. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
