Kenneth Kenny W. Smith Sr., 79, of Danville, passed away at 8:20 a.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at his residence. Kenny was born on October 14, 1927 in Danville, Illinois, the son of Joseph and Ordella (Jenkins) Smith. He married Norma Sue Ames on March 21, 1981 in Danville. She survives. He is survived by his two sons- Kenneth Wayne Smith Jr. of Florida and Robert Smith of Illinois; one daughter- Diana Madina of St. Juliet, Tennessee; two step-sons- Clyde Lee (Stacey) Hyatt of Danville and Terry Joe Hyatt of Rushville, Illinois; four step-daughters- Betty (Jerry) Catt of Marshall, Illinois, Patricia Johnson of Danville, Linda (Richard) Hanner of Sulfur Springs, Arkansas, and Vickie Sullivan of Robinson, Illinois; one brother- Richard (Peggy) Smith of Portland, Oregon; one brother-in-law- Don (Bertha) Brosman of Danville; two sisters-in-law- Joyce Hickman and Margaret Brown both of Danville; three grandchildren- Dominique (Jared) Ragland, Constance (Anthony) Middleton, and Rhonda Crippin; 17 step-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, one step-son- Edward Hyatt, two sisters- Rita Smith and Alta (Paul) Herzog; one sister-in-law- Hilda Taylor, two brothers- Floyd and Henry Smith, and one brother-in-law- Louis Pete Brown. Kenny was a member of the United States Army and served during WWII in Europe. He worked for 25 years at W.M. Hales as a warehouse manager and salesman. He later worked as a security guard at CCL until retiring in 1990. Kenny enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of the Fairmount Quarry Fishing Club and he enjoyed going there and fishing with all of his friends. In his younger years he enjoyed playing horseshoes. He loved to spend time in his garden. Services will be held at a later date. Burial will be at Oakhill Cemetery. Sunsets Community and Life Tribute Center is in charge of arrangements.
