Danville - Kenneth Wayne Cunningham (KeKe), 68, of Danville passed away at 10:30 AM on February 10, 2017 at North Logan Health Care in Danville, IL. Ken was born on July 28, 1948 the son of Wayne A. and Dorothy Helen (Broderick) Cunningham. He married Anita Cottier on October 24, 1975 in Danville, IL and she survives. Other survivors include his son, Todd (Sharon) Shickel of Indianapolis, IN, two daughters, Brandi (Brad) Norton of Fairmount, IL and Kerry (Justin) Hall of Danville, IL, one brother, Steve (Debbie) Cunningham of Cape Coral, FL, one sister, Nancy (Mike) O'Kane of Danville, IL, as well as eight grandchildren, Zeke, Abby, Lauren, Blake, Brayden, Logan, Lexie and Lukas. He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Connie Shields. Ken is a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Danville as well as the Knights of Columbus and American Legion Post 210. He was a Real Estate Broker and Appraiser for many years. Ken served as the Assistant to the Mayor from 1972-1977 and was involved in the urban renewal project, served as President of the Board of Realtors and Chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission for over 20 years. He served on the St Paul's and Schlarman School Boards and served as Athletic Director at Holy Family School and was a Faith In Action Volunteer. Ken had a passion for sports and was a die-hard Cardinal fan. He loved coaching little league baseball and girls basketball. Ken adored his family, especially his grandchildren, all of whom will miss him dearly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday February 15, 2017 at St. Paul's Catholic Church 1303 N. Walnut Street in Danville, IL. Father Bo Schmitt will celebrate the Mass with Father Ted Pracz. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 pm on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion Street, Danville, IL. A Rosary Service will be held at 4:45 PM prior to visitation at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Schlarman Foundation 2112 N Vermilion Street Danville, IL 61832.
