Kenneth W. 'Kenny' Steelman

Kenneth W. Kenny Steelman, 54, of Olivet, passed away at 5:55am, Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at Provena USMC. He was born the son of Burnell M. and Betty (Richardson) Steelman on September 9, 1955, in Danville, IL. Kenny worked at Zeigler Coal from 1974-91, was on the State of Illinois Mine Rescue Team as a Briefing Officer from 1985-91, and was an apprentice plumber with Martin & Hale 1992-96. He enjoyed working with cattle, rodeos, photography, hunting, fishing, camping, & barbecue cooking. He was a member of the Olivet Public Water Board of Trustees since 1996 and was serving as the current Vice President of the Board. Kenny was a member of the Olivet Church of the Nazarene. Those who will miss him include: his mother, Betty Steelman of Olivet; his sons, Matt Steelman of Indianapolis, IN, & Ryan Steelman of Georgetown; his brother, Burnell K. Keith (Sheila) Steelman of Catlin; his sisters, Judith Carlton of Olivet, Joyce (Don) Coon of Danville, & Connie (Jim) Rienbolt of Olivet; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews; as well as, many friends. He was preceded in death by his father. A celebration of Kennys life will be held at 1:00pm, Monday, January 11, 2010, at Olivet Church of the Nazarene with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be 2pm-6pm, Sunday, January 10, 2010, at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown. He will be laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in Kennys name to Olivet Church of the Nazarene.
