Kenneth Ray Hansen

Kenneth Ray Hansen, 58, of Springfield, IL passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones at 1:18 PM on February 21, 2024 at Springfield Memorial Hospital in Springfield, IL.

Kenneth was born on November 24, 1965, the son of Robert and Donna (Pasquale) Hansen in Danville, IL.

Kenneth is survived by his son, Tyler Ray (Ellenann Fullen) Hansen of Danville, IL, a stepdaughter, Marissa Ahrens of Atlanta, GA, two grandchildren, Greysin Daniel Ray and Kacy Ray Hansen of Danville, IL, two siblings, Bobette Hansen of Danville, IL and Kandace (Brian Borst) Segelke of Carmel, IN, two former wives Kelly Manning Ingalsbe and Karen (Lorenz) Hansen and his beloved dog "Dirk".

Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Sherri Shaddock and his two dogs, "Gabbee" and "Laydee".

Kenneth graduated from Schlarman High School in 1983. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Illinois State University in 1987.

Kenneth retired as a Sergeant from the Illinois State Police in 2015. While serving, he was part of the distinguished Executive Protection Detail for the Governors Mansion under Governor Ryan and Governor Blagojevich.

Kenneth was an automobile enthusiast and enjoyed spending his free time with his dogs and mushroom hunting. He especially cherished the memories of the time spent playing basketball in the driveway with his son Tyler.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, IL. James Blue will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Indianola, IL. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at the funeral home.
