Kenneth Lucas, 63, previously of rural Covington, passed away on January 23, 2026 at North Wood Village in Kokomo, where he had been living. He was born on September 6, 1962 in Danville, Illinois, the son of the late Brenda Summers and Derald Lucas. He attended Covington High School growing up and was raised by grandparents Paul and Mildred Summers. They preceded him as well. Ken worked as a welder in Mishawaka for many years before his health deteriorated.
Throughout his years, Ken cultivated a deep love for various hobbies and interests that brought him immense joy. He was an avid builder and collector of HO Scale trains and possessed a talent for drawing and painting. When nice weather and the opportunity presented itself, Ken loved being outdoors fishing. He also had a profound appreciation for reading and dedicated much of his time to studying the Bible, finding solace and inspiration in its teachings. He was a devoted member of the Coopers Chapel Bible Church in rural Veedersburg for many years as well as finding a church home in Mt. Carmel. He was a devoted and faithful servant.
Survivors include his daughters Jessica Lucas and Kaitlin Lucas; his grandchildren Brayden, Michael, Kaylynne, and Kaleb Lucas; and numerous cousins. He is also survived by his aunt and uncle Jane and Joe Summers as well as several other aunts and uncles.
In addition to his parents and grandparents, Ken was preceded in death by his uncle Keith Summers.
A graveside will take place at Coal Creek Cemetery on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at noon.
