Perrysville, Ind. - Kenneth L. Palmer, 78, of Perrysville, passed away at 12:03 a.m. CST Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville, Illinois.

Kenneth was born May 17, 1941 in South Gate, California, the son of the late Kern Paul and Katrina Collings Palmer.

He married Dorothy Mae Bodart on June 10, 1966 in Danville, Illinois. She survives.

Other survivors include his daughter, Joni R. (Jeff) Shelton of Greencastle, Indiana; two sons, Stephen Palmer of Perrysville, Indiana and Kenneth K.(Debbie)Palmer, Sr. of Pembroke, Georgia; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Paul E.(Elsie)Palmer of Effingham, Illinois and James R.(Mary)Palmer of Chaplin, Minnesota.

Kenneth was preceded in death by one grandson.

Kenneth retired from the Carpenters Local 269 in Danville, Illinois, receiving his 50 year pin. He was a member of the Cayuga Christian Church and Kickapoo Carvers. Kenneth was a 1959 graduate of Young America High School in Metcalf, Illinois.

Kenneth was a accomplished carver, knife and gun maker for over 40 years. He enjoyed carving, fishing, hunting, rummage and yard sales, auctions, traveling, gardening, rebuilding and refurnishing old fishing poles and guns, and keeping his yard well kept.

Funeral services: 2 p.m. EST Monday, January 6, 2020 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Keith Warner: Burial: Hughes Cemetery in rural Perrysville, Indiana; Visitation: Noon EST until time of services at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Cayuga Christian Church, PO Box 731, Cayuga, Indiana 47928-0731.
