Kenneth L. Grider

Kenneth L. Grider, 82, of Danville passed away on December 02, 2018 at 6:02 p.m. at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center. He was born on November 06, 1936 the son of Ernest Grider and Thelma (Patton) Grider. They precede him in death.

Also preceding Kenneth in death include one son, Kevin Grider, and one brother, James L. Grider.

Kenneth is survived by his wife of 25 years, Karen Grider; one son, Christopher Grider; three daughters, Liz (Mike) Stanek, Marie (Ernest) Waguespack, Denise (Cosmo) Calabrese; nine grandchildren, Jake, Kelly, Kennie, Vincent, Stephen, David, Jennifer, Cosmo, and Tommy; and four great grandchildren, Julian, Jayden, Jordan, and Jocelyn.

He was in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1958, then the U.S. Naval Reserve until 1962. After serving his country he became a semi-truck driver and worked for Teamsters, Local 714. He missed driving everyday from the moment he retired. Kenneth had a love for driving but he also loved to garden and watch football. He rooted for the Chicago Bears.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, December 06, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville. Officiating will be Pastor Raymie Gordon. Military Rites will be performed by Post 210. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Per Kenneths wishes he will be cremated and there will be no burial.
