Kenneth L. Dunbar, 72, of Danville went to be with the lord at 7:49 am on October 13, 2012. Kenneth was born on November 19, 1939 in Danville IL. to Harold and Harriett (Nolin) Dunbar. He married Bonnie McMasters on March 18, 1978 in Westville IL. Kenneth was a fisherman who made his living as a carpenter. He leaves behind his wife Bonnie, sons Kenneth (Julie) Dunbar of Oakwood, Harold (Stacy) Dunbar of Elmhurst, Daniel (Julie) Dunbar of St. Louis MO, Joseph W. (Kimberly) Dunbar of Tilton, Donald (Nicole) McMasters of Westville, and daughter Deanna (Tye) Auter of Westville, one brother Byron "Joe" (Debbie) Dunbar of Danville, one sister Carol (Robert) Rose of Bloomington, grandchildren Valerie Jo (Brian) Adkins, PFC Aaron C. Dunbar, Kelly Elle Dunbar, Jillian Lee Dunbar, Marc Anthony Dunbar, Bryan Allan Dunbar, Austin Dunbar, Dustin Hacker, Kristian Hayden, Shelby Claypool, Donald "DJ" Nourie, Stefanie Nourie, Brittany Auter, Amber Auter, Paige McMasters, Donald McMasters, Great-Grandchildren Jerrick, Josslyn, Jyllian, and Jameson Adkins, and Zaylen Hayden, as well as special friends Jerry Whiles, Steve Nourie, Larry Acord, Mike Carson, Kenton Wilson, Steve Doggett, Joe Graves, and the late Louie Montgerard. He was preceded in death by his parents. Kenneth served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1960. He had worked as a printer for WCIA Channel 3 News in Champaign and later retired from Carpenters Local 269 in 2002 after 34 years of service. Kenneth was a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of Further Light Lodge 1130, a member of the American Legion Post #51, the Illini Bass Club, the Carpenters Local 269 and the Moose Lodge 1001. Kenneth enjoyed fishing, making lures, hunting, gardening, dancing and especially spending time with his grandchildren. A celebration of Kenneth's life will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday October 17, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville with Pastor Janet Miller of Catlin United Methodist officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 on Tuesday October 16, 2012 at the funeral home with Masonic Rites starting at 7:30 and there will be an hour visitation prior to the service on Wednesday. Burial will take place at Springhill Cemetery in Danville with military honors performed by the Westville American Legion post #51. Memorials can be made in Kenneth's name to the Further Light Lodge 1130 Danville Masonic Learning Center, 109 North St. Danville IL.
