Danville Kenneth "K-Ray" Ray, 71, of Danville passed away at 10:38 PM on March 28, 2023 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
Kenneth was born on December 10, 1951 the son of Rayford and Ruth (Baker) Ray in Danville, IL. He married Paula Cobble on April 13, 2007 in Danville, IL and she survives.
Survivors include his wife, Paula Ray of Danville, IL, three daughters, Stefanie, Sarah and Pamela, seven grandchildren, Willow, Raine, Jasmine, Spencer, Ezri, Destynee and Eryck, one sister, Pam (Arlo) Hofer of Bridgewater, SD, two stepchildren, Leslie Hires and Josh Smith as well as special friends, Rocky Thornton and Dennise Hart and his chocolate lab, "Sophie.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Eric Ray and his dogs, "P.K. Gordon and "Shadow".
Kenneth graduated Oakwood Township High School in 1970. He was a member of the Danville Rifle and Pistol Club and the Harley Owners Group of Danville. Kenneths work history includes Bohn Aluminum, the Penn Central Railroad in the Maintenance of Equipment Shops, a County Conservation District Officer as a Lake Patrolman, Illinois Security Services as a Security Officer for OTB and he retired from the Illinois Department of Corrections as a Correction Officer in 2003.
Kenneth was an avid Chicago White Sox fan, he also cheered on the Chicago Bears, Chicago Bulls, the Illinois Fighting Illini, and Jeff Gordon in the NASCAR racing series. He enjoyed spending his free time riding his Harley "Ethel", camping, participating in amateur radio operation, reading his favorite author, Tom Clancy the "Jack Ryan" series, listening to music with is favorite song being Steve Perry "Dont Stop Believing" and his favorite color was red.
As per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834 is assisting the family with arrangements.
