Kenneth "Ken" Eugene Martin

Kenneth Eugene Martin, 63, of Oakwood, IL passed away at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville, IL on November 7, 2024.

Ken was born on January 13, 1961 the son of Robert Martin and Shelby (DeMumbrum) Hughes in Lafayette, IN. He married Pamela Jo Finnerty on June 25, 1983 in Terre Haute, IN and she survives.

Survivors include his wife, Pamela Martin of Oakwood, IL, his son, Brandon (Laura) Martin of Lake Zurich, IL, his daughter, Amanda (Justin) Lappin of St Joseph, IL, five grandchildren, Avery, Bryce, Scarlett, Carson and Ada as well as his siblings, James Martin of Inver Grove Heights, MN, Courtney (Jon) Suiters of Indianapolis, IN, Rebecca (Jeff) Cappello of Morton, IL and Robert Hughes of Morton, IL. Ken is also survived by his mother-in-law, Judith Finnerty of Avon Park, FL, three brothers-in-law, Charles (Anna) Finnerty of Evansville, IN, Matthew (Darlene) Finnerty of Land O’ Lakes, FL, and Jeffery (Kim) Finnerty of Terre Haute, IN, one sister-in-law, Teresa Martin of Hillsboro, IN and good friends Tim and Mary Park.

Ken is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Dean Hughes, sister Debbie Meyers, stepfather, Lowell Dean Hughes, stepmother, Ramona Martin, and father-in-law, Thomas Finnerty.

Ken was an Account Manager for Kirby Risk Electrical Supply in Champaign, IL. He was a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church and enjoyed spending his free time golfing, mushroom hunting, bowling and woodworking. He was an avid Corvette fan and enjoyed riding motorcycles as well as cheering for the Illini, Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears. Most of all, Ken loved his family dearly and cherished spending time with his grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, November 15, 2024 at Ridgeview Baptist Church, 3838 North Vermilion Street Danville, Illinois 61832. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 PM on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Ridgeview Baptist Church in Danville, IL.

The family has requested that those in attendance of the visitation wear Illini or Chicago Cubs attire in honor of Ken.

Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, IL 61834 is assisting the family with arrangements.

Memorials may be made in Ken’s memory to Ridgeview Baptist Church.
