Kenneth G. Kuhn, 93, of Danville, IL passed away July 11, 2023. He was born in Platte Center, NE to Gottlieb and Emma (Blemmel) Kuhn. He graduated from Kramer High School in Columbus, NE in 1946.
Kenneth proudly served in the Navy aboard the USS Quapaw during the Korean War. After serving for 4 years, he attended Tri-State University in Angola, IN where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. While at Tri-State he met and fell in love with Shirley (Morton) Thompson on a blind date. They were married on August 25, 1957, in Bryan, OH, and ended up being together for 65 years. After Ken graduated, they moved to Danville, IL where Ken worked as a mechanical engineer for Electric Eye Equipment Company, Hyster, FMC Corporation in both Newport, IN and Hoopeston, IL and Tee Pak. He was very active in his church, Immanuel Lutheran, and in the community. At Immanuel he served in many capacities over the years, President and VP of the congregation, Chairman of the Elders, Elder, Sunday School teacher (for over 30 years), Evangelism Team and Visitation Team (with Shirley) to name a few. Ken lived his faith with a servants heart and was beyond generous with his time in helping others however he could. He was involved in Toastmasters for many years and won several awards. He also holds a patent (1971) for a Self-Metering Feeder Conveyor. After retiring he enjoyed tutoring 3rd and 4th graders at Danville Lutheran School, volunteered at the Danville War Museum, serving on their board of directors, was chairman for Immanuel Lutheran Residence, and served as President for the Quapaw Association where he worked to locate and inform sailors of the yearly reunions; all for over 20 years.
Ken enjoyed fishing, gardening, home and car maintenance, dancing, traveling, RVing, and most of all, spending time with his family, especially his grand and great grandchildren.
Ken is preceded in death by parents Gottlieb and Emma Kuhn, sister Ann (Kuhn) Mohr, brother Don Kuhn and beloved wife Shirley Kuhn.
He is survived by his brother Doug Kuhn, daughter Kristina (Steve) Thomas from Poplar Grove, IL, son Stephen (Miriam) Kuhn from Findlay, OH, daughter, Kathy (Dan) Koeneman from Dallas TX, eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 AM Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danville, Illinois, 1930 N Bowman Avenue Danville, Illinois 61832. Pastor James Yonkers will officiate. Private Family Inurnment will be in Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:30-11:30 AM Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at the church.
