This is a story of a great man. Kenneth Wayne Dicken, 75, of Bismarck, IL went to be with the Lord March 3rd, 2017. His story begins in 1941, the 2nd of six children to Perry and Dorothy Dicken. Kenny served as an Illinois State Trooper for 32 years and 8 months. He retired as a sergeant with a well known and honorable reputation. Not only was Kenny a dedicated officer, he was also a professional painter and skilled dry-waller. Being the hard-working handyman he was, Kenny built his family home from the ground up. He loved spending time on his land whether that be taking a ride on his backhoe or caring for his cows and horses. He lived a simple life and he liked it that way. He was a member of the Flying Shingles Ski Club where he proudly flew the kite in the ski shows. He was an outdoorsman and animal lover. He enjoyed hunting deer, bears, and pheasant. But his greatest joy in life was his family. The are no words that can describe just how strong, selfless, and loving he was. He spent his life caring for those he loved most and anyone in need. He was respected by many for his strength, loyalty, and determination. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Perry, and sisters Peggy and Sharon. He is survived by his adoring wife Ann; their children Cheri (Darrell) Holland, Julie (Adrian) Wynn, Tisha Estrada, and Justin Martin; his brothers Ronald Dicken and Richard Dicken; his grandchildren Aaron, Katie, Shelby, Camren, Halie, Kambrie, and Loren (Jordan); his special great-grand daughters Hayven and Makena who lit up his life. Visitation will be Wednesday March 8th, 4-7pm and a celebration of life service will be held at 2pm, Thursday March 9th at Sunset Funeral Home, 3940 N Vermilion St Danville, IL. There will be a reception to follow at Bismarck Men's Club, .114 E. Holloway, Bismarck IL. Say not in grief "he is no more" but live in thankfulness that he was. Please join Kenny's family in sharing memories, photos, and video of his life through his tribute wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
