Kenneth Bradley "Brad" Krauel Brad died at 10:50 p.m. on June 6, 2004 at his home. He was born October 21, 1947, the son of Kenneth and Ruby Maire Krauel. Brad was a much-loved husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Karen (Bud) Spicer. Brad married Joellyn on August 10, 1997 at the Fithian United Methodist Church, she survives. He is also survived by one sister; Diana (Herman) Wyatt, two daughters; Shannan (Jim) Montgerard, and Trisha (Tim) Pouilliard, two sons; Tom (Tracy) Krauel, and Bradley Joe Krauel, one stepson; Chris (Kim) Day, and one stepdaughter; Stacy Day, five grandchildren; Hunter Krauel, Brandon Day, Mackenzie Day, Tannar Pouilliard, and Hillery Montgerard. Brad was a Danville Firefighter from July 1976 until his retirement in August 2003. He was very dedicated to his career as a Firefighter and very committed to the Danville Fire Department. He served as Lieutenant from August 1981 until he was promoted to Captain in 1990 and became Fire Prevention Officer in March 2001. Brad also worked for several years at Mettam Safety. Brad served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam era aboard the USS Forrestal CVA-59 from 1966-1968 and served on the USS John F. Kennedy CVA-67 from 1968-1970. He was aboard the USS Forrestal July 29, 1967 during the explosion and fire that was the worst accident the U.S. Navy had suffered since World War II. Brad was a graduate of Danville Schools, DACC and received his Bachelor degree in business from Illinois State University. He was a member of the Fithian Methodist Church. Brad had a great faith and knew that God was always with him throughout his illness. He was also a member of American Legion Post 210, the Forrestal Association, and the Retired Firefighters Association. Brad had many hobbies and interest including golf, fishing, and country dancing. He also enjoyed spending time on his computer especially creating web sites for his personal interests including the Danville Fire Dept. and the DHS class of '65. Most of all he found great joy in spending time with family, children, grandchildren, and his many friends.
